Production Process Steps of Precision Cast Iron Parts

Iron Melting: High-purity pig iron is used, and the oxidation reaction is accelerated through heating and the addition of lime or coke to separate the slag.

Alloy Addition: Elements such as carbon, silicon, manganese, molybdenum, and nickel are added according to the chemical composition and application requirements of the cast iron product to form the desired alloy.

Mold Preparation and Casting: The mold (typically made of sand or metal) is prepared, and once the mold is ready, the molten iron is poured into it to cool and solidify.

Cooling and Cleaning: After cooling, the cast iron parts are cleaned. The cooling time is influenced by factors such as the carbon content and the shape of the cast iron parts.

Technologically, precision cast iron parts pursue higher precision and more complex shapes. Their characteristics are as follows:

High Precision: The cast parts have high dimensional accuracy, reducing machining allowances and costs.

Regarding applications, precision cast iron parts are widely used in multiple fields due to their high precision and excellent physical properties:

Mechanical Field: Used in engine water tanks, cylinder blocks, gearboxes, flywheels, chassis, etc. Their good cutting and machining properties also make them suitable for manufacturing various machine tool beds, columns, beams, and other components.

Construction Field: Used for manufacturing street lights, well covers, bridge piers, drainage pipes, and various architectural hardware fittings such as door and window hardware, locks, etc.

Metallurgical Field: Used for rolling mill rolls, continuous casting machine structural parts, blast furnace cylinders, cooling walls, etc. Their good wear resistance and high-temperature resistance make them suitable for environments with high temperatures, high pressures, and impact loads.

In addition, precision cast iron parts may also be applied in fields such as aerospace, automobiles, and medical devices, which have extremely high requirements for casting dimensions, surface finish, and physical properties.
